The Gift Of Ourselves My friend was not a handsome man. He was rather plain in appearance, was overweight, and didn’t have really nice clothes. What he had, though, was a heart for God and a love for Jesus that I recognized the first time I met him. He was tender to the leading of the Holy Spirit and I witnessed this on many different occasions. It was an unusual situation that I experienced with this customer. He would come in the office and we would share for a few minutes before we took care of business. Maybe a song we had heard blessed us, a sermon had spoken to our heart, or a prayer request needed to be shared either for ourselves or someone else. We talked about God’s faithfulness and the miracles He performed in our lives as He watched over us day after day. We shared favorite scripture passages and encouraged each other to read these before we saw each other next time. We trusted each other. I feel the gift of this man’s life and will always be blessed by his friendship. He is gone now from this life, but I will treasure the memories of our conversations and the precious knowledge that he prayed for me while he was here. I believe he touched heaven for me. Reflect: It is the gift of ourselves and the things of God in our life that we treasure and share with others that makes our lives worth living and remembered. Whether it is a testimony for God in a similar circumstance, a witness of how God saved our soul, God’s Word, or a song telling the” Good News”, we have the gift from God of our life to give to others. Matthews 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
